1st show
"Thanks for showing up" says Jimi before leaping into "Fire". Next up is a "little loose jam type of thing" in the form of a massive "Johnny B. Goode". This may be the last time he played it onstage.

The following version of "Hear My Train A Comin'" originally made its way onto LP with the "Rainbow Bridge" soundtrack. Many people (including this author) consider this performance to be one of Jimi's finest.

A 10 minute "Machine Gun" rips up the small Berkeley Community Theater. Jimi continues the new music with "Freedom". A 7 minute "Red House" slows down the pace a bit with some tasteful blues.

"Ezy Ryder" breaks down into a bass/drums piece before Mitch takes over with a solo. This version showed up years later on "Band of Gypsys 2".

The show wraps up with "Purple Haze" and a brain-splitting solo on "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)".

2nd show
Jimi starts this show with "Straight Ahead" (a.k.a. "Pass It On"). This song bleeds into a very pretty "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)". "Lover Man" picks up the energy level as the next tune.

The band returns to the old days with "Stone Free" and "Hey Joe" (available on "The Jimi Hendrix Concerts"). A heavy-duty "Machine Gun" shows up later in the set.

Like the previous show,Jimi wraps up with "Purple Haze" and "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)".

Both of these very fine shows are available as great soundboard recordings. Chunks of the shows are available on the "Jimi Plays Berkeley" film.
