This is the first show of the "Cry of Love" tour. Billy and Mitch will be in his band until the very end. Jimi starts off with some "oldies but moldies": "Spanish Castle Magic" and "Foxy Lady".  A very heavy "Hear My Train A Comin'" slows the pace down temporarily.

Next up is "Message to Love" from the newly released "Band of Gypsys" album. After a high energy "Ezy Ryder" Jimi plays a heavy-duty "Machine Gun". Interestingly, just the mention of "Machine Gun" garnered applause from the audience. A quick tease of "Star Spangled Banner" is played toward the end of the song.

A beautiful "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)" precedes a fast-paced "Villanova Junction Blues". Mitch jumps in with a solo after about 2 minutes. Coming out of the solo is "Freedom".

After "Star Spangled Banner" and "Purple Haze" Jimi tears up the Forum with "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)". This version contains bits of "Midnight Lightning".

This is an enjoyable above-average audience tape.
